Our own vineyards are divided into separate plots at different altitudes and orientations. The vineyards of Bodegas Federico, surrounded by the magical setting of the village of Pesquera de Duero, at the heart of the Ribera del Duero district, are naturally excellent.

The Secrets

The Secrets

The soil varies slightly depending on the plot, with lime-rich clay soils, low in nutrients and organic matter, where the vines must fight to survive and struggle to find water. Slopes and hillsides, rocks, clay, micro-organisms, nutrients and minerals all have a vital part to play in the creation of the large, aromatic grapes which are the soul of our wines.

Another secret of our vineyards is the local climate, ideal for the development of the vines. A harsh, extreme continental climate, with long, cold winters, very dry summers, hardly any rain, and a notable variation in daytime and night-time temperatures.

Our vines reign alone in these fields, and are cared for all year round to ensure they reach their maximum potential and thus extract the most quality from every grape. The vines are planted in espalier, with drip irrigation, and are the dominant variety of the D.O. Ribera del Duero: Tinta del País, Tinta Fina or Tempranillo..
